CAPTOR DOUBLE WALL TANKS
Snyder's revolutionary Captor Containment System is designed to alleviate the ever changing environmental and safety concerns regarding bulk chemical storage and containment for the 21st century. Captor's unique tank-in-a-tank design enables users and specifiers to incorporate advance performance and safety features on a bulk-handling system, which provides total containment protection. Captor's double wall construction is completely enclosed so that external matter, such as dust, rain and snow is prevented from collecting in the outer containment tank. Besides delivering unparalleled performance benefits, Captor Containment Systems also contribute to your company's bottom line by significantly reducing installation and procurement cost. Every Captor is shipped fully assembled on either a standard or wide load flat bed trailers, which reduces comparable costs by an average of 35 percent. Snyder’s double wall tanks range in size from 35 gallons up to 6500 gallons, providing a secondary containment solution for many applications. The smaller design configurations are ideal for commercial “Day” tank system requirements, and can be used in conjunction with Snyder’s extensive line of larger capacity double wall Captors. TECHNICAL CORNERThe Importance of Flex Connectors One of the most important yet overlooked items we see is the lack of flexible connectors on piping connections to our tanks. As tanks are filled and emptied, they “breathe” and expand or contract. Additionally, as temperatures change, the tanks also expand and contract. In polyethylene and fiberglass, this movement can be as much as 4% of the tank diameter! When these tanks are hard piped into a system, stresses are placed on the tank fittings and leaks can occur at gaskets, or worse yet, fittings can break! Installing flexible connections as close to the tank as possible reduces these stresses and allows the tank to breathe, extending tank life and allowing you to avoid costly spills and leaks.

SPECIFICATIONS The following is a brief summary of ASTM, ASME, API, and UL specifications relevant to the tank business. ASTM D 1998 – Specification for flat bottom rotationally molded polyethylene tanks (500 gallons and larger). ASTM D 3299 – Specification for filament wound fiberglass tanks ASTM D 4097 – Specification for contact molded fiberglass tanks ASME RTP-1 – Specification for fiberglass tanks, including pressure vessels ASME Sec II, Div VII – Boiler and Pressure vessel code for pressure rated vessels above 15 psi. API 650 – Atmospheric flat bottom, cone top storage tanks in carbon or stainless steel. API 620 – Other tank configurations not covered in API 650 UL142 – Above ground steel storage tanks designed for flammable liquid storage UL58 – Underground steel storage tanks designed for flammable liquid storage UL1316 – Underground fiberglass storage tanks for petroleum service
